Multi-talented Irish folk singer, songwriter and musician Stephen Leeson took to the stage this month for the launch of his new album ‘Reveal, The Stable Sessions’.
‘Reveal, The Stable Sessions’ is a live album of 12 tracks with both original music by Stephen and traditional Irish folk songs, performed with musicians James O’Connor, Peter McMahon and Patrick Cummins.
The sold out album launch took place on July 4th in The Cobblestone, Smithfield. The audience had the chance to enjoy one of Dublin’s finest pints of Guinness, in a venue dripping with traditional Irish decor and artifacts.
Stephen and band were joined on the night by 2 special guest. A 3 piece instrumental traditional Irish act Eachtra and The Finns, a Bluegrass duo just back from a successful Boston tour.
Despite playing together a mere few months, Eachtra gave a tight performance, playing with ease, bringing beautifully subdued traditional Irish music to life on stage.
The Finns charismatic and lively performance consisted of both original songs and covers, most notably their spellbinding rendition of the Simon and Garfunkel song ‘El Condor Pasa’.
Stephen Leeson and band began their performance with the upbeat title track from Stephen’s new album ‘Reveal’ setting the note for a lively performance carved by Stephens impeccable stage presence and versatility as a musician.
The band played together with elation and were joined on stage for one song by Stephen’s musical inspiration, his father.
The night closed with Stephens uptempo and unique version of the traditional Irish folk song ‘Red Is The Rose’, to a howling applause from the crowd.
Stephen Leeson’s new album ‘Reveal, The Stable Sessions’ is available to purchase or to stream on Spotify.
